New distributor rotor burnt
Hello. I have recently got my car back together after head gasket change and replacing all of the ignition components.
I have been having some running issues and there are a number of dead spots whilst driving and badly backfires through the exhaust. Timing has been set a 6* So that's okay.
I took the dizzy off today to find the rotor is slightly burnt And has melted the plastic on the side. Not sure if this is related to my issued, have changed the dizzy and rotor for a new one today but still same faults. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks. J

This happened to me on a much larger scale. Rotor and where it meets cap melted right through. I later found low voltage rotted / loose wires into and around the coil and dist. One wire to the coil was being held together just by the insulation. I think coil fire signals were showing up at the wrong time in the cap and created a firestorm in there.

The engine was working up to the point where I went to remove the coil wire from the dist and it came off with the terminal. Surprise!
