What clutch with non WC T-5
Allright guys im getting ready to go to summit and get my clutch and flywheel and some other stuff i need to finish up my car. I am using a non world class T-5 with my 406 small block (yes i know the T-5 wont last forever). But i need to know what clutch to buy. The 400 needs a externally balanced flywheel and it takes a 10-11 inch clutch, i just need to know how many spline the non-WC tranny is. Help me out here

There is no difference between the WC and NWC T-5's. There IS a difference however between V6 and V8 T-5's. The V6 input shaft only had 9 splines. I don't remember what the V8 input shaft spline count was (14 sound familiar? Maybe higher...) but it was much higher than the 9!!
If you get the clutch for 3rd gen cam/fb with v8, it should be the right one. What choices are given?

Yes that is exactly the probelm, it is a V-6 T-5 tranny... i have a bellhousing so it can be used with my 406 but i can not figure out what do do with the clutch...

Hey paul, the V-8 T-5 has a 26 spline input shaft, clutch diameter of 10.4" I'm not sure but I thought the V-6 had a normal 10 spline input shaft, I could be wrong on that one.
CamaroKev, If your using the stock bellhousing an 14" flywheel won't fit. It has to be a 12-3/4" wheel (153 tooth).

ok i think i can help here........
get the 9 3/4 inch 14 spline clutch disc from a 1991 chevy lumina (prefeably centerforce)
everything else, just use stock V8 parts
the 9 3/4 is the closest you can get to 10.5 without going over it
because if you want to go with 11 inch, you'll need:
different flywheel
different pressure plate
different starter
and i beleive these will not fit the stock bellhousing

Well it isnt a stock bellhousing.... i cant really tell you too much about it yet cause i havent got it, it is in the mail, one of my dads friends was using it in his camaro with a non world class v-6 t-5 with a 350 engine. Im not sure about this but this is what i hear: the v-6 t5 has a different bolt pattern than the v-8 t-5's.. correct me if im wrong im not an expert on these trannys actuallly im rather confused on the splines and which clutch and stuff.. I guess you guys cant really help me out until i get the bellhousing and can take some meausurments

I'm in the same boat.
I'm about to replace the clutch in my '91 Firebird. I also have a T-5 tranny, though mine is the V8 version. After some research, I decided to go with a Centerforce Duel Friction Clutch. You can check them out on Jeg's website by clicking this link.
As you can see, if your T-5 came from a 3rd Gen V6 car, you need a clutch disk that will fit a 14 spline input shaft. If you buy a kit that includes the pressure plate, you need to use a 9 1/8" pressure plate.
For anyone interested, a T-5 from a 3rd Gen V8 car has a 26 spline input shaft and utilizes a 10.4" pressure plate.

the trannies dont have a different bolt pattern, the bellhousings do.......................all you need is a stock V8 bellhousing
that will bolt to the V6 T5 and to any chevy V8
