Anyone disassembled a T56?

I have a small leak between the housing that the gearshift attaches to and the main big housing. From reading a rebuild type book, it appears there is nothing but sealer between these 2 parts. Is this true? If so is it just gasket sealer? Just seems like there would be a gasket or something.

Thanks

I used Permatex Black on my T5 rebuild. Hasn't leaked a drop since. The fluid is not under pressure, so a little sealant between the two faces is all thats needed. I just let it set up for a few minutes, to get nice and tacky, then stuck the two pieces together, torqued down the bolts, and it's done.

true. No gasket, only permatex-type sealant.
