T-5 output shaft problems

for about a month now my transmission has been getting progressivly worse. It started not going into second gear, so I just skipped second. then it started jumping out of first. I found another T-5 in the paper from an 88 Camaro that I got for $200. once we had both transmissions sitting on the bench, we started pulling them both down. one of the problems with mine was that the 1-2 and 2-3 synchros were almost completely worn down. another problem was that one of the ears hard broken off of the shifter fork on the rear fork. we later found the piece of plastic wedged between the two forward gears on the countershaft. looking at the other trans I bought, the synchros all look to be in very good condition, all of the gears look good, but the nose of the output shaft where the needle bearings of the input shaft run was so worn down that you could move the tail of the output shaft almost 1/4 inch side to side. so we just decided to use my output shaft, the synchros and top cover of the 88. well, today my dad decided to get the 3rd gear synchro slider, or whatever it is, pressed off of the output shaft. he calls me a little later and tells me something about it being made a wierd shape and now neither will work. where can I get a new output shaft from other than GM? they wanted $800 for a new one.

let me say this though, Im not switching to a T-56 right now, so noone suggest that. Ive already spent $200, and right now Ive got two useless transmission. if anyone has or know where I can get an output shaft for relatively cheap, please let me know.
