Tranny guys -- help me out

Okay I own three third gens but that's not where my problem is. It's on my wife's 1993 Buick LeSabre. It just developed a grinding noise from the trans when its in "Drive". The sound does not occur when the vehicle is in park or reverse. The trans is a 4t60e. Has anyone observed a problem with these transmissions (ie design flaw, recall). The trans still shifts and drives perfectly. The vehicle driven about 1/2 a mile after the noise developed (it was driven to a trans shop after Midas said the problem was with the trans). I would like to know what to tell the shop to inspect in order to keep the costs down on this repair

The Reverse Drum is just about gone. The new ones are hardened but to make up for warranty costs on the failed ones GM trippled the price. Kind of makes you feel warm all over, doesn't it? The low roller is the ultimate cause along with revving over 3000 in P/N.
