driveshaft swap, u joint help please?!?!
ok, it's my undestanding that a 4th gen driveshaft will pop right in my third gen, but i'm not sure about the u joints...i'd like to use solid ones but for which application(3rd or 4th gen, even in third gen the u joints differ in sizefrom the steel and aluminum) do i get them for? are all 4th gen driveshafts aluminum(v6-v8)? any pointers would be appreciated before i swap 'em, if i can? thanks!
please help me!?!

Car: 90 Formula, 02 ws6
Engine: 305 tpi, ls1
Transmission: 700r4, t-56
Axle/Gears: stock posi 2.73, 12 bolt with 4.11s
4th gen z28/ss and trans am ws6 have aluminum drive shafts
v6's have 2 piece ds so you dont want that
are you looking for a aluminum ds from a 4 gen or a regular one
if you are geting a regular steel ds just go to your local part store and get the ujoints for that year ds but if you want to get an aluminum one you have to get special coated u joints so when you put the steel ujoint to the aluminum yoke it will not carrod it
http://www.iedls.com/home.html
this is the place that i delt with fromthe coated ujoints from my tpis ds actually these people manufacture the tpis ds for tpis
if you want to get an aluminum ds from a 4th gen drop them an email and tell them that you have an aluminum ds from a 4thgen and you want the aluminum spicer ujoints to fit it and tell them you have a 10 bolt gm rear
they sould take care of everything for you
