I have a T-56 with my 2.77 rear, but I have a 350. Even with the 350, I think it sucks trying to get moving. I have had it like this for about a year and I am just waiting until I get the money to finally get this 9 bolt built up. It is a bit of a pain, but I do not think it is horrible.

Well, if you have to choose, I would say to definately get the T-56. You can always get a different rear or get the gears changed in the one you have. You will NOT regret getting the T-56.

I am running the T56 with a 305 TBI and 2.73 gears. The gearing is WAY too tall. If you want to stay with 3.08 gears, I don't suggest you get the T56. I have one because I am saving up for a 350, and I am also doing gears/posi right now. Will it work with 3.08, yeah. Just don't expect it to run all that great. I believe most if not all the T56s came with 3.42 gears, and thats pretty conservative. Most people with the 94-97 version end up going with 4.10 gears, and 3.73s with the 93 version.

If you are not looking to change your gears in the future, then the T-56 is not the thing for you. The tremec TKO has a 3.2 first gear which I think would work perfectly with your 3.08 rear. It also has the same torque rating as the T56

WOW!!! Talk about an overdrive!!! :hail:

That's like what, 90 MPH at 1800 RPM's?

T-56's like at least 3.42 rear gears, unless you got the '93 version which came with either 2.73's or 3.23's (I think)

If you have a line on a T56 kit for a decent price, get it and don't look back.

Changing the gear ratio in the rear axle can always come later but T56s are selling fast and will become harder and harder to find in the future since F-bods are no more (as far as production is concerned) and there are only so many M6 cars out there....

IMO of course........

Hey guys, i did the math on this the other day. In sixth gear, with 3.73's, 25 in. diameter tires, going 75 mph, you only turn 2200-2300 rpms. Maybe its just me, but thats sounds awfully good.

That's be the truth, even with a strong motor, 6th gear is a long pull from 55mph and whacking it down.... It's very steep and I got 4.10's

But it's great on fuel, a 700r4 sucks compared to it... The 700 has way to steep a 1st gear and way to shallow 4th IMO

I've got 3.27's in mine, with stock size 16's. In 6th at 80mph or so I'm pulling around 1750. If you have anything lower I doubt it will want to run very well, unless you want to cruise at 100!
