700r4 few questions

Ive gota few guestions about my tranny.

1. when the trany is cold(like sitting over night) the 1-2 shift is very hard untill the car warms up. once the car has warmed up it shifts smooth. is that normal?

2. some times when launching from a stop fast the transmission will slip for just a second. usualy between 4500-5500 rpm's. it's not bad thow. usualy what happens is around 4500rpm the engine will surge to around 5500rpm then immedatly go back to 4500. but rather than a slip it feels more like the car started out in 2nd gear then shifted to 1st and then immedatly shifted back to 2nd. what would cause this and is there any thing I can do to easly try and remedy it?

3.Ive got to change the rear oil seal because Im leaking tranny fluid where the drive shaft enters the tranny. the numb nut who owned the car b4 me drove it for *** only knows how long with a busted tranny mount(already replaced) which Im guessing is the reason the oil seal is bad. Is there any other dammage I should look for, and how hard is it to remove the drive shaft to be able to replace the oil seal?

4.Thanx to the above problem Im getting ready to change my trany filter and fluid soon. I planned on going synthetic considering I went sythetic with the engine when I got the car and had great results, but the other day when I was at O'Reilly I saw B&M trick shift transmission fluid. according to the bottle it can be used in all automatic tranny's and improves shifting and transmission performance. which would actualy be better to go with? is the B&M stuff worth a try? will it trash my tranny? or sould I just go ahead and go to synthetic?

Thanx in advance for any info you all can provide me!!! :hail:

Change that fluid & filter and I guarantee that will fix most of those problems for you...

DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC FLUID IN AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION!!

I've heard this from so many trans professionals. They all say that an auto trans needs some friction to operate efficiently. Stick with the Dextron III and you'll be set.

I've heard mixed results about the B&M. I've used it and it didn't seem any better or worse than standard stuffI saw some Valvoline "shudder-resistant" DEXRON III that looked like it might be a good bet... it's a synthetic blend, which might make for a better quality fluid.

I've got wolf's head in now, and it's due for another change soon. I would also get an auxiliary cooler. That DEFINITELY made a difference in shift quality when I installed it, especially in the summer, and on big hills.

Get a decent quality filter. I had a wix filter in it before, and I'm going to put another one back in. Cheaper filters can sometimes mess with shift quality.
