The Richmond 5 spd doesn't have overdrive, so it would be bad gas consumption. The T56 should be an easy swap with the right pieces. I think you need a new crossmember and have to shorten the torque arm. You could also look into a Tremec 5 spd.

Car: 92 Camaro RS
Engine: 350 Crate Motor
Transmission: Tremec TKO
Axle/Gears: 10 Bolt 3.73
I put a Tremec TKO in mine a couple months ago.
Real happy with it and with the kit from Fortes it was a bolt-in deal.

Fortes TKO Kit includes: Bellhousing adapter (uses T5 bellhousing), Crossmember spacers, Adapter U-joint, Electronic Speedo Adapter (for whatever rearend gear ratio you have), Backup Light Switch, Shifter (w/o Stick) and 3 Quarts of GM Synchromesh Fluid for about $2200 including shipping.
Not cheap, but will hold up to lots of power and torque.
Tremec 3550 is a couple hundred less, but is rated at less torque.
