9 Bolt pissin fluid
Got home today and noticed the distinct smell of gear oil. Looked near the rear and saw a little bit of smoke.
Looks like my pinion seal is shot. Sucks cause I just had all the bearings replaced 1,000miles ago. Anyways, is this something I can tackle on my own.
Can someone please list the parts I need to get from the dealer?>I'm thinking crush sleave, new nut, new lock washer, new seal.
Anything else?
Remember that this is a 9bolt 3.45 rear, not a chevy 10 bolt.
Some steps on replacement would be great as well!!
Thanks,

all you need is a seal, a way to measure the depth of the nut, new nut, something to hold the yoke with. measure the distance from the end of the pinion to top of nut, scribe a match mark on the nut and pinion, remove nut, remove seal, install seal install nut to correct depth and line up match marks and the add a flat or two on the nut. my guess is whoever did your rear put the seal in dry and it burnt up when you first drove it.
