t5 wiring question
Okay so I have been searching around and havent found an answer, I did the auto to t-5 swap all I have left is the wiring, I think I figured out the reverse lights I have to try them tommorow.
But I cant figure out the nutral saftey switch. I have a pigtailed connector comming off my pedals that is purple and yellow, from what I understand this is normal. But I dont have the same wires comming off of the auto shifter, the shifter has wires that are the same guage that are purple and green, I am assuming they are what I need, do I hook up purple to purple and yellow to green?
Has anyone seen this, I have a 91z28 the pedals came out of something older.

Hi
follow those thick wires to your pedals and then find the one that is hot. When i put my T5 in they were both purple and yellow, so i cant help you there. but those thick wires are the ones..

you should have tan/white wire to (B) on the cenector to your pedal and a Purple wire to (A) on the pedals connector. the connector should be "LH side of IP, near shroud" (mine was tucked in the left side kick panel) if the connector is not there then you could run the wires like you are thinking at the gear selector switch using terminals (F,E same colors as above and go to the same spots)
I was looking at the picture in the book and it looks like yours has a short set of jumper wires that run from your pedal mouted switch to the wire harness just above the pedals which has a plug taped up to it. so I would look for the main wire loom above the pedals and see if there is any pug tapped up there with those two wire colors, then check the kickpanel. (its just alot cleaner job if they are there already

Nice I didnt even think to look for and existing connector. If I have the connector what do I do with the wires that went to that auto shifter just leave em in the connector untouched, or would
I have to jump them? and what book are you looking in?

if the harness is there yes just use that (looks like you will have to cut in to it because it has that jumper harness unlike the older ones which you said the pedals are from. I took my shift cable out, cut the cable and left that rubber seal in the top of the tunnel then I took and ran the back up light wiring through the seal strait down to the trans. I took the two back up light wires fanned them out to the shap of the connector pins soldered then so the stayed solid that way. and pushed them in to the connector for the auto trans. I left the rest of the plug alone.
I was looking in a GM Service manual far a 91 camaro

how about the reverse lights??
haha okay can you do this for me like write out what each wire from the autoshifter connection does/goes too.
The reverse light wires comming off of the trans are brown/yellow I was splicing them, with the blue/light green wires from the auto gear selector.
haha thanks for all of your help, I am going to have to try to find one of these shop manuals for my car, the chiltons/haynes are crap for this kinda thing.

Looks like you have it all figured out right. the wires at the auto connector are ("C", dark Blue and "D", Lt Green) dark blue goes to "A" on the trans connector and Lt Green goes to "B" on the connector
- if you want to put them in the same spots it really does not matter
as for the rest of the wiring it really does nor matter, I have to look at differant wiring diagrams to see what each wire is for, like starting shows me the nutral saftey switch and what wires go where for that but, does not show the back up lamps, for the backup lamps I have to go to that diagram.
