Are these gears worth the $?
I've got a posi, 1le 9-bolt with 2.77 gears and I'm looking to upgrade to 3.45's. On 9bolt.com, they're selling a used 3.45 for $75. I know that I need the series three carrier to go along with it, but I'm curious as to whether the damage on this gear is merely superficial, or whether I should fork over the big(ger) bucks. All damage is due to sloppy cutting wheel work during removal. Please, have a look:

I would definately swap the gears. That swap will be like adding 100HP to the car. You could easily drop a full second of your 1/4 ET. Bang for buck it's hard to beat a gear swap.
I wouldn't use those though. Obviously the bearings were removed without a press and the damage to the gears is already done. These nicks and cuts will create stree risers that under hard use will cause the gears to explode.
