What is: Power shifting, speed shifting, Granny shifting, double clutching it
I did a search on shifting and I noticed that all seem to say not to Power shift a T-5. I have also heard people talk about speed shift a T-5, and granny shift a T-5 AND double clutch a T-5. What are all the differences. THis is what I think they are, someone please tell me if this is right:
Powershifting is pressing in the clutch, shifting to next gear, then releasing the clutch all real fast and WITHOUT letting off the gas.
I think Grannyshifting is shifting normal just at the redline, like the same as powershifting but you LET OFF the gas while you are moving the stick and have the clutch pressed in, then let the clutch out and punch the gas again.
I know what double clutching is like on an old truck to get it into gear but how could you possibly use that while racing.
Don't know what speedshifting is; maybe shifting with no clutch.
I shift the "Granny" way even when I am giving it hard so is that ok since it is not powershifting? Don't want to grenade the T-5 so let me know. THanks

Power Shifting = shifting without lifting off the gas. In some cars you can do this without using the clutch at all. You have to work the clutch very fast and shift very fast or you are going to over rev or bounce off the limiter if you have one.
Granny Shifting = shifting very slow and complely comming off the gas and slowly putting the car into gear. It is like normal driving but still brining the engine to redline and WOT in every gear.
Speed Shifting = Shifting just as fast as you would power shifting, using the clutch, but only lifting about half way off the gas.
Double Clutching = You usually have to do this if you have a nad snychro to match the gear speeds before they mesh. You would push in the clutch and take the car out of gear. The you would release the clutch with the car still in neurtral. Then you push in the clutch and put it into gear.
I speed shift so that I don't put the abuse on the tranny like power shifting does.
Speed shifting and power shifting give your your best times.
