governor or tv cable problem?
I have a 700R4, and have just installed a Transgo JR kit with a .500 boost and a .296 revers boost, corvette server, external cooler, etc. After rebuilding my engine and driving it some, I finally have it shifting correctly (new filter, fluid etc), but at WOT it won't shift from 1st to second (all the way up to 5500 RPM). I can let it off the throttle a little right where I think it should shift and it does. But when I stomp it from start, it won't shift from 1st to second all the way up to 5500 (I let off after that and it shifts).
The other day, I manually turned the throttle level all the way to WOT, it got really tight right before WOT like there was no more cable to give. Now my buddy at the tranny shop, says since I've boosted the pressure with the boost valves, he believes I need to change the governor. I'm just wondering if I have the tv cable too tight. Any ideas?

It's pretty hard to get the TV cable "too tight". It should self-adjust in that case, unless it's already fully extended, in which case you have problems with your cable and bracket geometry.

Boosting the pressures in the trans can cause some weird stuff to happen. How does it shift in the other gears? If it shifts the same on the 2-3 shift you could probably play with the govener weights to fix it. Otherwise your problem lies elsewhere.

I checked my governor, and the gear is fine, springs are decent. Not sure what else to do. I guess I'm going to have my buddy at the tranny shop to look at it eventually. He thinks I need tighter springs on the governor.
