Rough shifting

I have a 700R4 in my 85 T/A. When I take off and it shifts from first to second it shifts rough the faster I take of the rougher it shifts, it pretty much bangs from first to second when accelerating fast. But everyother gear shifts like a new car. There's only 63000 original miles on the car so what can be wrong with the tranny already. Can anyone help.
Thanks,

It could be a tranny mount, the stock ones suck bad.

If it was a tranny mount would it only shift like that only from first to second?
Thanks

It could be. because you're most likely accelerating more agressively for the 1-2 shift but letting off more for the the 2-3 shift thats how it was with my tranny.

how does it shift when light on the throttle? does it shift normally, but firm? or do u have to rev it up to XXXXrpm before it shifts out of 1st?

When I accelerate lightly on the throttle it shifts a little firm but not that bad, its when I giver and it shifts to second so rough that the tires spin a little. But when I accelerate lightly it shifts at low rpm arroung 1800 or so.

i was suspecting a stuck TV, but since you said when you accelerate normally, it shifts normally. it would not shift normal with a sticking tv. it would shift higher than normal and firm.

when u have a chance take a look inside the 1-2 accumulator housing. you may have a broken accumulator spring. that would cause harsh shifts since it can no longer cushion the shift.
