This a good combo

Here what i'm looking at having done loosing the stock rear 2.73 open and going to a auburn pro posi unit, all new bearings and the guy said they have never had a problem with US GEAR, ring and pinion sets, all of it for about 950, the place builds only rears and driveshafts for alot of the stuff that races at bandimere, anyone running us gears, will they take a thrashing or should i push for like richmonds, also is the auburn pro unit any decent, searched but couldnt get the answer i wanted

Gonna be running 3.73's in it and am doing a trans go shift kit, since i kinda wanna snap some necks

Hopefully, I'll have some other people that will back me up on this, but I would never spend $950 on anything for a 7.5" rearend for drag racing. They're just a weak design for that application.

Put that money towards a 9" or 12-bolt.

i went on ebay bought an auburn high performance posi with 410 gears, all was in MINT condition. cost me 250$, then cost me 50$ to get it all put in.

works great.

and i have the 7.5" rearend

Take a look a yokon gear's at www.ringpinion.com . If you plan on big HP and slick's get a 9 or 12 .

Trust me guys i'd love to run a 12 bolt or even better a 9" but the 406 is quite a few years down the road, i've decided to run this motor till it has no more as it is still very strong.

This isnt strictly a strip car(despite what the hood says )
In fact its more street and show then race but i know i dont wanna run it with 2.73's on it, heres the break down on the estimate

Auburn pro-$420
us gear 3.73's-$185
labor-$180
Thats 785, plus the cost for the bearings and whatever else it may need, he said more than likely it would be a little cheaper but i am figuring 850-950 to be safe

I realize this wont take the abuse from the 406 but as i said thats a few years off as i have other things that have taken priority and the 2.73 are driving me nuts right now

This was the cheaper place actually, the place that builds our racing trannys wants 1250 for basically the same thing....The 10 bolt will be just fine for a few years since when i do the 406 it will be no expenses spared ie blower, ford 9" slicks, 6 speed

Don't you love how other people can spend your money
I just went a simular route . Yokon 28 spline axles , Yokon 373 ring gear , Eaton posi and LPW gidel cover spent about 1300$ and did the work my self . I have plans to go for a lot more power too but this will have to do for now . Consider 28 slpine axles if you do not have allready and a girdel cover with the mainbearing support's .

Havent really gotten an answer yet as to the posi unit or gears if the quality is alright, the 10 bolt will be fine for now, i'm considering bumping the axles to a 28 spline but thats as deep as i'm going for now...

FOr the power i am going to be making in a few years i will definately need something beefy since i'm shooting for give or take 900 horses on spray, but fo rnow i doubt the Lo3 is gonna break a 10 bolt we ran a 10 bolt with a eaton posi 28 splines and 4.10's on the nova and that was doing 10.3's

I wouldn't put that money into a 10 bolt. Try to find a 9 bolt in a junkyard or something. $950 is way too much to spend on that axle, because you'll probably end up breaking something anyway after you've rebuilt it if you decide to beat on it any.

Not all 10-bolts are alike. I'll bet the 10-bolt in that Nova was a 8.5" 10-bolt vs. the 7.5" 10-bolt in your Camaro.

The difference is night and day, the 8.5" 10-bolt is a lot beefier and I've heard of people going a lot quicker then 10.3 with them.

Think about it, the season is winding down now anyway, save money over the winter and have a better rear end built in the spring so you're not spending money twice.

My $.02 again

From what I have read the Eaton posi is the way to go , because it is rebuildable . I do not know about the alburn if it has clutches or cones . I see the US gears in CHP but do not know any one with them . Your combo sound's fine I would recomend the 28's though .
