Ls1 Lt1 T56 Differences
I am trying to find out the differences in the LS1-T56 and the LT1-T56. A friend of mine is doing a swap he has a tranny from a 2000 Z his engine is a late 60's or early 70's and he says it wont go all the way to the engine to bolt up. So I am wandering is the input shaft longer on the later model tranny's. Any help is appreciated.........

Yup, the LS1 style T56 has a 10.75" input shaft, and the LT1 is 9.25", so you have 1.5" difference. You still CAN use this tranny, though. However, you will have to change the front adapter plate (has 11 bolts holding it on), and the input shaft to the LT1 style for it to work. The input (main drive) gear costs about $200, and the adapter plate (front bearing retainer), runs about $180-190.
If you need these parts or any more details, just let me know.

Re: Ls1 Lt1 T56 Differences
It's an old thread, but what if I wanted to bolt an lt1 t56 to an lsx style engine block?
I searched, but didn't find it... this was as close as I came.
