T-56 Swap Questions
Ok, just ordered my tranny from D&D... I have a few questions to make sure I understand everything.
1. LT1 style tranny is correct length so no drive shaft changes needed.
2. LT1 Style Bellhousing is the one I need
3. Clutch 26 spline LT1 Unit : from summit RAM-98516HD
4. LT1 Flywheel: Summit RAM-1530 168 tooth Will this be balanced properly when I bolt it on? I have a stock flex plate now.
5. Pilot Bearing, stock LT1

all the items you have listed will work fine. your 350 is internally balanced just as the LT1 is. Just need to get you some pedals and hydrallics. Here are a couple of good T-56 swap links http://www.skulte.com/T56.html https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...S&pagenumber=1 Hope this helps

I've seen the sklute article but the other one is new, I'll read it thanks.
I ordered a cross member from spohn... I already have his torque arm.
Do you know of anyone who sells a steel bellhousing for this application? The tranny comes with a stock type of one but I think I need the steel one for the track.

I would get your pressure plate and flywheel balanced to be sure they're good.
Mcleod sells a scatter shield you could use... http://chevyhiperformance.com/techar...148_0502_swap/
Now I have a question. Will the stock 700R4 tq arm fit the T56 or does it need to be shortened?

My current setup was balanced with my current flexplate.
Is there a way for the machine shop to balance the new flywheel/pressure plate if I give them my current flexplate? Or would I have to tear down my motor so they can do it the way they normally would?
I went the LT1 T-55 route. The article you mentioned uses the T-5 Retrofit aftermarket T-56. I think this one uses the T-5 Belhousing so its different than mine.

I'm use a spohn torque arm that mounts to the crossmember so its different than the stock application. I think I saw in one of the tech articles mentioned above that it would work. You'd have to look.

This is an excellent article. Its covering the swap into a 4th gen that previously had an automatic. The swap is almost identical to the swap into a 3rd gen when you use the LT1 Version of the tranny. Lots of great pictures and diagrams.
