T56 Clutch Fork Retaining Clip?

Does the thin metal retaining clip (which is held on with a rivet) serve an important purpose in the engagement or disengagement of the clutch? The fork I received with the T56 swap-kit I purchased has the clip bent up about half an inch where it meets the 'T' on the fork. Might this cause an issue? Thanks in advance.

It holds the fork on the pivot ball stud.

I don't think it's necessary.... IIRC mine doesn't even have it.... but it would have made assembly alot easier. Which is probably why the factory put it there: one little clip is cheaper than having their assembly workers chasing clutch forks around on the floor.

Re: T56 Clutch Fork Retaining Clip?

Was the final verdict on this that the clip is not needed? My T56 does not have the clip.
