Car: 1988 Pontiac trans am/gta
Engine: 350
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.23's
T-5 noises
when shifting down, in between all gears it seems * i can double check *
Makes a wining noise going into the next lower gear and is tough to push in then it pops in
im thinking it could maybe use some New tranny fluid and a few bearings but i dont feel like tearing into it atm

Sounds pretty normal.
Think about what you're having to do when you downshift: you're speeding up the clutch disc from whatever RPM it happens to be at at the moment, to whatever RPM the engine will also be at in the new gear. So if you're going from let's say 4th to 2nd at 45 mph, that disc has to go from about 2500 RPM or whatever, to about 5000 RPM. That's ALOT ALOT of energy.
The whining noise is the countergear bearings and all the various other parts that have to speed up along with the clutch disc.
New fluid is usually a good idea, within reason. Just making sure it's full is pretty smart too. I'd leave the bearings alone though, since it doesn't sound to me like there's anything wrong with them.

alright, good i just wanted to know... not to good with transmissions
I did notice a small leak coming from near the bellhousing * tiny drops*
so it could be a bit low... Ive heard various problems with people pulling the wrong plug etc
Is there a sticky guiding you on how to do a fluid change on a t-5?

The easiest way would be to pull the lower plug on the pass. side and let it drain out. Then remove your shifter and pour in the fluid through the shifter area.
If you dont do that, then you need to get one of those hoses with the caps or a funnel or something to get it in the top hole on the pass side.
I just did the first one pretty recently. Took about 10 minutes tops to pour in the 3 quarts of ATF.
I used Mobil 1

top hole on the drivers side
That's the one that if you take out, the transmission falls apart.
The drain and fill holes are BOTH ON THE PASS SIDE.

i could drain it, plug the drain plug and then open the top plug, fill from the shifter and when it drains out of it its full
lol?

Yup, that would do it.
Or, just dump in all 3 quarts. I doubt the extra ounce or 2 will hurt anything; especially not if the trans leaks. That just gives you a little extra time before it runs dry again.
