how do i "widen" the gears?
I dont know anything about trannies really other than they have all the gears and each gear sequential gets small kind of like on a mountain bike. I also know that(through freinds and word of mouth) If you widen the gears you reach higher top speeds but i was wondering how to widen or tighten the gear. And while im at it how do i stop the retarded infinite gear on an auto? You know when it wont change gears because you have the accelerator buried.

I assume the 'no gear change' you are talking about, is when it won't do the 3-4 shift at WOT. Thats normal on a 700R4, and I beleive there are certain kits out there to eliminate this, but I'm not 100% on that, as I never looked into it (I perfer the manual trans cars).
As for widening the gear spread, theres very little you can do about that without spending ALOT of coin. The only real option you have is taller (numerically lower) rear end gears. That will give a larger difference between the gears, and could give you more top end speed if you have the power to get there. You'll lose some low speed acceleration by doing this though (how much depends on how much you change the gear ratio).

Sounds to me like it's time for you to drop the cash for a nice performance built 700r4. That'll set you back about $600-$1500 depending on who you get one from, but it'll feel like a totally different car with a high performance auto compared to the slushy, weak, stock trans.
