Crazy vibration turned clunking!

So, today I had my car in for some spring cleaning to a local shop, had some basic things replaced, tuneups and all that basic garbage. Well anyway, after I left the garage I drove back to work fine, all seemed well. After work I got out on the highway and was just going along, and then all of a sudden, got a crazy hard vibration, needless to say I pulled over.

So, I got out of the car, lid down, took a look under the car, and I couldn't see anything wrong, nothing on the ground, no oil leaking from the rear end, no driveshaft on the ground. So I thought to myself, maybe the road was bad back there or something. So I took off and went on my way.

When I started to pick up speed again, the bad vibration came back, so I pulled off to a side street and then the vibration turned into a clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk every couple feet.

There was nothing wrong with the trans cause it wasn't violent enough for that, still no leaking oil from the rear end.

I suspect it was something that they replaced at the garage, and my car is back there waiting to be looked at in the morning, but from the sounds of my description, I want to know what you people think this is before I mention one of the parts they replaced, which I suspect is the problem.

Just kind of impatient waiting for morning, just want some opinions now. Thanks in advance.

u-joint gone south maybe...

Block the tires, throw tranny in neutral and jump under there and wiggle around the driveshaft.

Awesome, just wanted some confirmation, they replaced the u-joints today, just wanted someone to suggest that before I assumed, man what kind of dumb assed mechanic can't install a u-joint?!

Could be mechanic error or it could have been a chitty u-joint.

yeah I found out one of the newer younger mechanics did it, and I don't know what would cause it, but the cap split on one of the ends?? Wierd... But yeah it's all good, he paid for my tow and gave me a ride to the garage from home.
