milling back of wheel

Car: '82 formula clone, 95 saab 900se
Engine: 350 vortec'd tbi, 2.0L turbo
Transmission: 700r4, 5 spd
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt 2.77 open
milling back of wheel
i want to put a 4th gen rearend in my formula but i want to keep my stock wheels and i don't really want them to stick out so much, so i was just thinking about taking them and milling down the center of the wheel. i don't know a whole lot about backspace and everything and i haven't looked at the back of my wheels to see how do-able this is but what do you guys think?

Just a thought, but I can't see GM putting extra unnecessary material on a wheel since it is unsprung weight. Are you sure there is enough material to actually safely machine off ?
