Rearend problem

I had the back of my car jacked up yesterday and I noticed that when I turned the wheels by hand there is alot of play in between the wheels. When I turn one a second later I will hear like a clunk and then the other wheel will catch and turn also. I can also feel it when I let off the gas and hit the gas again I hear the clunk and then the car will take off. I have the borg warner rear end. Is this a serious problem or does something inside the rearend just need tightening? Thanks for you help.
