flexplate question 700r4

Car: 85 camaro z28
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: T56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.27 borg warner 9 bolt
flexplate question 700r4

does a flexplate for a 700r4 interchange with other years of camaros 700r4. would a 85 700r4 flexplate hook right up to a 89 700r4 trans.

They'll interchange from 82-85, and from 86-92. It doesn't matter to the transmission, any torque converter will bolt to any flexplate, but the bolt pattern on the crank flange is different between the 1 piece and 2 piece RMS blocks.

so an 85 camaro with a stock 305 is a 2 piece RMS right? and will only work with the years listed 82-85 third gens

Apart from the crank hub, the block is absolutely identical externally to any other block that came in a thirdgen. You can put it in any year car, as long as you use the right flywheel or flexplate.
