LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Is any one running this product and if so what do you think. The cover alone looks great but also using the axle brace kit it could be a big help for a 10 bolt . Hole package for under $300.00. Here's the link : https://www.lpwracing.com/

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

I installed one on a Chevelle 12 bolt a few years ago. It requires some welding. There could be some clearance issues, so check that out before you buy anything.

Yes, they have a "narrow" specific kit for 3rd and 4th gens...
Redoing my tired 10 bolt with 150k miles on it....

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Might be interested in this too.. But what does it actually do besides look cool? It's still a 10 bolt that cannot be launched hard.. 300$ plus a shop for welding puts my 10 bolt in the 2k range after this.. Want to make sure it is worth it.

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Besides the 150k mile 10 bolt I got, I'm taking out to completely redo it...
I'm getting new Motive Gear Axle kit from Summit for $207 shipped...
Was going to get a 10 bolt cover anyway... Jegs has the LPW cover for $150 and can match the brace for $123, plus carrier stud kit and rebuild kit...
About $500 not including labor...

I don't plan to put drag slicks on mine, currently have a g92 91 5.0 tpi 5 speed with headers / exhaust and other bolt ons.... but eventually plan a turbo....

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

I paid a shop to install a new Eaton 26 spline posi (my 26 spl axles were good already but I should have gotten a 28 while I was at it.. DOH!), 3.73 motive GM gears, install kit, new cover and hardware, etc. and they set it all up for me and it costed about 1500$.. Actually, I also have LCARB and a PHB relocation bracket welded on to the diff plus it's all POR15'd.. so actually probably factoring in those things plus labor I'm already 2k deep in it lol..

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

I have an axle tube brace kit still NIB if you are interested. I'll let it go for $100 plus shipping. I got the whole setup in a deal, but was only really interested in the diff cover. PM if you are interested.

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Since this thread has been dug up I will add that I did use the L.P.W. cover on my 10 bolt build/upgread.
This is a break down. Some of these parts are necessary for the build and some can be changed to match your personal preference as in brand and style L.S.D./Locker.,etc.
  1. 3.42 ring and pinion =$ 200.00
  2. master bearing kit = $ 90.00
  3. axle bearings and seals = $ 30.00
  4. 28 spline Eaton posi. Unit = $ 500.00 ( highly recommended )
  5. 28 spline axles = $250.00
  6. installation/labor = $ 300.00
  7. a LPW Ultimate support cover = $ 160.00
  8. Thats $1,530.00 counting the cover.
  9. 3 year warranty on parts and labor

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Dropped by the shop today for my "rehabbed" 10 bolt...
I had it taken all apart, tubes welded, tabs for braces welded, powder coated, installed new Motive Gear Factory 10, 28 spline axles, Eaton TrueTrac, Richmond 3.42 gears, Yukon rebuild kit and solid spacer.... I picked up a used Spohn torque arm for $75 and I got the trans cross member for about $150 during Thanksgiving day sale...

The brace on the left side is a bit shorter, due to panhard bar mount... My car has bolt on's for now (TPI 5.0 5 speed, Hooker 2055's, 3" exhaust) and many suspension mods...

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Thanks for the picture. I want to keep my IROC-Z as original as I can. So a built 10bolt is one of those things I plan to do. I'm not looking to drop it at 6k from a dig, more-so along the lines of always having it sit around 5-6500k being thrown sideways.

Essentially what Ron posted is what I plan to do to mine. So in the market of about $2k then. Sounds good.

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Yeah, I got great deals on the welding and powder coating...
I know there are tons of threads about how weak the 10 bolt is... I don't plan to drag race with slicks, I know TurboTPI had 570 RWHP and only thing he did to 10 bolt was an aluminum cover.. and he drag raced his... I think I'm good for now... now gotta save up for Turbo

The rear end had over 150k miles on it, I'm sure it's much happier now

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Definitely much happier. Can't wait to do mine. Although I need to figure out what rear disc brakes I want to upgrade to, as well as how this will interfere with a Watts Link setup. Hmm. So once I figure those two things out, I can think about getting parts like this to finish the rear off. Thanks guys.

Re: LPW Differential covers/axle tube brace kits?

Got the car back a couple days ago, drove more today too...
The rear end feels amazing... I added Founders LCA's with 3 way poly joints (had other LCA's with hard poly), Founders Panhard bar, new Moog Stock Springs (about a year old) and Bilstein struts...

It rides so much smoother and not as harsh... I'm sure the old 150k miles on the rear end didn't help... Even with the Spohn torque arm (cross member mounted) it rides smoother than before... almost as smooth as my Honda Accord

Still breaking in the McCleod clutch, so no hard pulls yet...
