Why don't we have a T56 sticky thread?
So mods..........why don't we have a T56 sticky thread in this forum? We have a T5 and and Th400 stickies, but not a T56??? The T56 swap thread I've been posting in has 182 posts and 7306 views? Seems like this is a very popular topic that deserves it's own sticky so we could get all the info into one easy to find place.
Anyone else think we need a T56 sticky?

Re: Why don't we have a T56 sticky thread?
I have, but was told there was info "off site" for the conversion and there is a link in the tech section to that article. There is nothing wrong with that article and it's a great starting point, but it's no where as detailed as the info we have compiled here. We have explored many different problems and possible fixes that the "off site" article doesn't. People can ask questions and we can attempt to help them here, not so with the "off site" article. This interaction is important to people considering the T56 swap, or people in the middle of the swap like I was last week.
Without the info I found here, I would never have attempted my T56 swap. And that would have been sad since I rate the T56 mod right up there with SFC's.

I think we should make that T-56 swap thread a sticky. People can def. read through and get a lot of useful information while doing their own swaps. My vote is in to make it a sticky

There, not doubt, is a plethora of off-site info; however, that said, I'd personally like to see TGO be as comprehensive as possible. It is, after all, the premier thirdgen site on the internet.

Re: Why don't we have a T56 sticky thread?
I have a few comments about this.
First off, i would like to have a T56 sticky as well.
My approach for that thread when i created it, was to make it a "VISUAL" database of our info. There are many How To's on the net, but very few of them show alot of pix.
I tried to post as many links as i could, and make references to all the places where i gathered my info, but as many of you saw, i still had plenty of questions, and i screwed up a couple of major things like having incorrect parts at the beginning.
Secondly, id love for someone to add some info about how to rebuild a T56 and "beefing up" the components. From what ive read, its not very complicated, and the parts arent ridiculously expensive. But im not an expert on the subject so i didnt include any of that.
Lastly, i think the threads may not have been made stickies because there is alot of "extra" talk in there, that needs to be "filtered" through to get the actual "technical" part of the data.
One of the threads i made reference to written up by Mr_Dude i beleive, entitled "Answers to questions that arent normally covered in a T56 swap" or something very similar, had excellent "instructional" format to start with at the beginning of the thread. But towards the end it was again alot of extra talk.
But the talk can be beneficial in some cases too. Im sure every one of us has encountered that problem where you seem to be the ONLY one who has it, and a simple search shows, that there was one other guy like 6 years ago that had the same problem, and showed you how to fix it. So it can be interpreted as a "technical and troubleshooting" thing in one.
I guess thats the difference between a sticky and a tech article. One has talk and the other doesnt.
Anyway, i wouldnt mind helping attach or clean up the threads a bit if thats what it takes.

Re: Why don't we have a T56 sticky thread?
I read posts for over 4 months, contributed to some with solutions I came up with, and was very thankful to find solutions to problems others have had that made my swap the easiest, most trouble free and satisfying thing I've ever done to my car. That's the true value of a sticky, to have as much info in one easy to find place and not have the post lost in the shuffle 10 pages down.
But I fear this thread is useless. No sticky yet, no mods talking to us about it. 782 posts and 7382 views in online170's original thread. What does it take to get a sticky in this forum??
