10-bolt 28 or 30 spine count?
To the best of my knowledge my rear is still the factory original. With that said is there an easy way to tell of my rear has a 28 or 30 spine count? I have a chance to pick up a set of 3.42s w/ posi unit for 28 spine count dirt cheap and would like to not pass it up. Currently my car has 3.08s w/ a worn posi unit, on a drum rear.

Your 89 is in the transition time period. It's a good chance that it's 28 spline but it could also be the 26 spline. The only way to tell is to count the splines.
If yours isn't 28 spline, you can always buy a set of aftermarket 28 spline axles. They're only $125 each.

383 stroker (carbed) with double hump cast iron heads and pump gas
461 Big Block installed and ready for the 2001 racing season
Best results before the 383 blew up
Best ET on a time slip: 11.857 altitude corrected to 11.163
Best MPH on a time slip: 117.87 altitude corrected to 126.10
Altitude corrected rear wheel HP based on power to weight ratio: 476.5
Best 60 foot: 1.662
Racing at 3500 feet elevation but most race days it's over 5000 feet density altitude!
