Modifying megashifter to shift smoother?
I hate this damn thing. It shifts like I'm hooking a semi to a trailer. Is there a safe way to modify this thing to shift easier? Like maybe some rounding/grinding? I was just thinking about it and haven't checked it out yet.
I also dislike the T-bar, its about stripped out and I haven't even really smacked it yet. What a garbage setup. I'll have to find a kickas ball somewhere.

I guess I'll have to play with mine, maybe move it around on the floor. I don't care about the park-drive roughness, I think going from gear to gear is too difficult.
The biggest problem is that the lever sits too far back. I have a reverse manual valve body, so I'm always at the bottom of the gears. So when I shift to the next gear I have to pull back and down. If I can smooth it up just a little, maybe move the whole assembly forward, I think maybe it will work out with a sturdy ball on it.
If not its getting ditched and I'll get a ProRatchet.

maybe mine is a one in a million, but i feel like i am the only person on the board that truly has no problems with their shifter and loves it.
its a bit tricky at first, but if you use it every day, it loosens up and after a while glides from p-d with no problems.
my only wish was that you could reverse the action of it.
bang foreward for down a gear, back for up a gear.
oh, and i parallel park every day, still not a problem for me.
i think most peoples problems come from either not aligning the cable correctly, or not taking the time to get the length of the cable adjusted right.

I did everything per instructions and so did the shop owner. He doesn't like it either. Right where the cable comes out of shifter and through the body, theres a little stress on it. Just a little. I think I'm going to play around with the mounts and see if that will change anything. To change the angle of the cable going through and resting on the floor.

i love mine! u just have to order the correct leginth cable otherwise it will feel really tight and it will hurt the transmission. be sure to adjust it till its just right. it was a pain in the *** for me and it took 4 hours of adjustment to get it just right. but i love it.

my only gripe is that its slightly hard to get out of D OD or 1 into neutral on the way to park.
i can rachet into N just fine though.
reverse doesnt seem to have a real detent for me, it just slides right into park from neutral.
either way, i love the thing.
i guess i never really drove the car without it though.
when i got my camaro, the ball on the stock shifter was cracked, and the snap ring was gone, so it was nearly impossible to shift gears, and if you did, you often went too far.
i once went from OD to 1 when i meant to go to 3... i was going about 35 at the time... bad.
the next day, i ordered my megashifter.
i can rachet into N just fine though.

mine is hardest pulling from park to reverse. after that it ratchets smoothly back and forward.
i think mine is a little tight going thru the floor to make the loop.
the next time i drop the trans im going to try and trim the floor up and seeif i can ease some of the tension off the cable

Mines shifts fine from park to drive and back. Reverse is a bit of a pain. I drove it again today and paid attention. The problem is pulling it backwards with my reverse valve body. The angle is just bad. I used the factory mounts, so what I'm going to try is raising the rear to make the pulling action a little more horizontal rather than like 45 degrees down. That should also make the cable angle a little more friendly.

with your reverse valvebody, you pull the handle, and it goes into 1 correct?
then you rachet back into 2,3,4 right?
or do you rachet foreward into 2,3,4?

i will say there is a science to getting the cable perfect, then your good to go....mine works perfect
also making sure it is mounted real solid make a HUGE differance, if you can use some big washers on the back side of the front bolts to spread the load would work real well to

Right, I pull all the way back from park and it goes into 1st. Then I pull back again to 2nd, 3rd. Th350. Then forward to downshift. Once it's in first, its a pita to pull back again. Its a little rough, but the issue is its just a bad angle, which makes the problem a whole lot worse. I need to raise the rear like two inches.

its the 5 foot cable.
they sell a 2.5 or 3 foot cable for extra money, not sure how much, but if you loop it right, its not a problem.
the main thing is to make sure there is no stress on the cable at all.
