hey everyone,
I'm Blake, new to third gen. I bought a 89rs V8 TBI think the tranny is 700r4. anyway, the car is leaking like crazy. I dont know much about tranny's so I made a video to describe it. this seemed to happen suddenly, but after lookin @ all the grease under the car... it may have been a problem all along.

I want to take it to a shop in the east bay (510) to get fixed, but I want to go with some idea of what the problem is so I dont get ripped off.

my money would be on the converter seal. thats the seal which seals the converter to the transmission.

well I figured I busted some sort of seal. I ran to uhaul and got a hitch. before I drove it all the way up the ramp I looked underneath, everything seemed fine. Thank god the tranny didnt go out. still shifts and all gears work fine. I think u may be right

forgot to say, that this only seems to happen when the car is ON.

its the front pump seal, or torque converter seal. Who ever fixes it, is going to have to pull the tranny.

yea it aint going to be cheap to fix, and yea its the front pump seal

man, dont drive that thing, thats the last thing you need is to burn up the trans just for having low fluid, and with a leak that fast i doubt that any of the pour in leak stops will fix it, but it may be worth it, $10 is alot cheaper than replacing that seal

is it just me or is your dash and all tan like your seats???????

and just another thought is it leaking arond the input shaft or the front of the trans pan, i cant tell in the video

it is tan. ive personally never seen that before lol. hmm. id like to see more pics of it as well, is this a factory option or did somebody dye it??

lol. thanks every1. tomorrow i will jack the car up and make another vid (its at moms house). funny how a $6 part costs so much to fix.

As far as the dash and the rest of the interior...
Dash/Console=tan
seats= old *** red cloath w/ tan leather padding
floor=red
door pannels=tan
arm rests=red
soft top= black w/ plastic window

I will take pics of it, I have never seen this combo of colors. this is a salvage car I got for $1000. The guy I got it from insisted the interior is really from 1989. It is in the condition I got it in and has been running all over the Bay Area flawlessly. I love this car.

for such a cheep price, this is the only issue. will mod the suspension, convert to all disk brakes, rear end, TKO600 swap.
