Occasional grinding at takeoff

My 87 305 5-speed IROC has been mostly stored since getting married 13 years ago, but I recently broke it out to start driving it again. With new gas it's been running great, but once in a while it'll grind a little when I take off from a stoplight in low gear. Some times it goes away if I just kick in the clutch and let it back out, sometimes not, though it only lasts a second or two before disappearing. Shifting on the move is smooth and never a sound, and this only happens a time or two out of however many stops I make tooling around town in an afternoon. I'm wondering if there's something to check or watch for to help narrow down what's causing the noise, which I'm thinking may have to do with all of the sitting still it's done these last years.

Re: Occasional grinding at takeoff

I'd bet its just your throwout bearing getting worn... the one in my '97 does that sometimes too.
