NV3500

"NV3500: This transmission is normally found up against the stock 4.3 V6 and does not require an adapter when converting to
the V8."

would this s-10 5-speed transmission fit to our 3rd gens?

I have the NV3500 in my 92 GMC 5.7 liter (came that way new). It held up to my Paxton supercharged 5.7L and I tore out 2 8.5 inch rearends at the track with it. Still doesn't grind or make unusual noises. But it does look awfully long under the truck. I don't think it will just drop in and bolt up. I could be wrong though.

anyone have opinions how feasible this would be? i think it's at least as common, plenty available. low rev engines would be just fine with 5-speed gearbox? and tough one as previous writer said

Re: NV3500

Has anyone ever performed this swap?

Maybe with one of the LSx engines as a direct bolt-in 5-speed?

I know GM put these trannies behind the 4.8L engines in small pick ups.

Re: NV3500

I put one in a 69 c-10 and it works so dont give up hope

unless you have not heard that these trannies are weak

brharris27370 has the best 3500 that I have ever heard of

put a wc t5 and sell the 3500

unless you prefer the hard way

I am the same way

Re: NV3500

The NV3550HD was offered in fullsize half-tons. I'm not convinced it's any stronger than any other NV3500. The GM versions were offered with at least 2 different gear sets. The better one is nearly identical in ratios to the T5 in my '85 2.8 Camaro.
1) 3.50:1
2) 2.14:1
3) 1.39:1
4) 1.00:1
5) 0.73:1 (my T5 was 0.78:1)
This would be great with a 2.73:1 - 3.08:1 axle, depending on your engine. Beware of the version with the 4:1 first gear.
