94-04 mustang 5 speed into 92 rs camaro with a 350

okay well about 4 months ago i swapped a 350 into my RS, and put a V8 700R4 into it, the tranny is in the process of going bad. I have a V8 Borg Warner 5 speed from a 94-04 mustang. is there anyway i can make that work in the camaro. and also how am i on the clutch pedal. Is there a way to make a clutch pedal work?

There are load of threads on T-5 swaps on here. Use the search feature and you'll find them.
Pretty sure a Mustang Tran. would work for a number of reasons.
1. The bellhousing to trans. bolt pattern is different
2. different input spline count
3. Different out put spline count.
4. the shifter is to far forward on mustang t-5s and it would contact the dash or radio.

okay well the tyranny im looking at doesn't have a bell housing on it, i know someone makes one that work with a Chevy V8. but if you right about the rest then i guess the T5 is a no go.

the shifter is too far forward and at the wrong angle, fbody t5 shifters are at a 17 degree angle from the centerline i believe. for this reason you cant even use a t5 out of a s-10 or sonoma, let alone a mustang t5.

Re: 94-04 mustang 5 speed into 92 rs camaro with a 350

I'm researching the same thing right now. It seems it can be done and it may just be a good idea. The lakewood 15032 bellhousing would work for sure. http://performanceparts.com/part.php?partID=181634

There is also a Jeep bellhousing that has a Chevy V8 bolt pattern on the engine side and a Ford T5 bolt pattern on the other. Like this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-...=p4506.c0.m245

Not sure about the clutch fork on the Jeep though. I have to find out if our hydraulic slave cylinder would attach.

You would need a special clutch disk but that should be easy. It would prob be just a 'stang clutch disk and a GM pressure plate. Any competent clutch shop could make a clutch kit easily. I've got a guy for that for sure and he's very reasonable.

The output shaft is different but that wouldn't be a huge problem either (I think). Worst case is a custom driveshaft.

I have read that the shifter is only a fraction of an inch different location (with the proper bellhousing) and requires no mods to fit.

I was going to make a post on this to ask if anyone has actually done it before. Mustang T5's are better and much easier to find. Dime a dozen really. When I learned of that Jeep bellhousing, all this got quite a bit cheaper potentially. I am going to learn all I can on this subject and decide if this is the way to go, or just save for a TKO500/600 someday.

Here's a link to a page with tons of links with the info you need to answer your questions. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=169265

It seems that hotrod guys have been all over this conversion for years now. It may be worth it for some of us 3rdgen guys to catch up!

Good luck and keep me informed of what you learn. And if anybody has already tried this, or better yet actually done it, please let me know!

Re: 94-04 mustang 5 speed into 92 rs camaro with a 350

Couple problems with what Walrus108 is sayin'
1. even if you can do the swap. you still have to deal with the torque Arm. Mustang t-5s don't have a torque arm mount. that means you would need a Relocation kit. and that alone cost $250plus.
2. The convesion bell housing, the differnt clutch set-ups and custom drive shaft are gonna cost money, alot of money. The conversion bell housing must cost close to $300. IDK what the drive shaft would cost different shops different prices, but the ones i know of charge about $150.
3. The cost of a good WC T-5 out of a mustang, if you get lucky, is about $250 and up.
For that kind of money why not just by a T56 out of an LT1 camaro for a $1000 or so, have no issues bolting it in, and have the support of TGO if you do. Plus get an Extra Gear, and be able to put more power through it than any t-5 is capable of.

Re: 94-04 mustang 5 speed into 92 rs camaro with a 350

If you use a T56 the shifter is in the correct position, the torque arm should bolt up, and the bell housing would bolt up, no conversion bellhousing or excessive modification.
