torque convertor not locking up

I am trying to wire in a toggle switch to lock up the torque convertor on my 700r4, but i want to be sure that I get it wired correctly. The tan/black wire and the blue (or green) wire have 12V with the ignition on. Do I need to ground the purple wire to get the torque convertor to lock up?

Re: torque convertor not locking up

It depends on the switch that YOUR particular transmission has in it - you have to test it to see if it's normally open or normally closed. If you have the right switch inside the tranny, then you can lock with a toggle. If you have the wrong switch, then it's implied that you cannot without replacing that internal switch.

There's also been talk of leaving the ECM in tact and plugged up, and just locking the TC through the ALDL connector - but I've never read where anyone actually did it this way.

Here's the tech article if it helps: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/carb...c-control.html

Re: torque convertor not locking up

maybe i should go about this a different way. After thinking about this whole thing, i would much rather have my torque convertor lock up utilizing the original system. It should be working and I'd like to figure out why.

Re: torque convertor not locking up

Alright, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the C100 and C207 of my 87 GTA (LB9)? I also need the ECM wiring diagram for an 89 Firebird (L98). I believe I have a few loose wires under the hood by the firewall that are left open from my engine swap. Thanks!

Re: torque convertor not locking up

Yeah, I tried to use those when I installed my motor and transmission, but most of those are for Camaro's. The ones for Firebirds are different, I think. Either that, or my car is wired differently than other Firebirds. Thanks for helping!!!

Re: torque convertor not locking up

The major items should be all the same on the wiring for both connectors. The C207 ought to be identical, thats ALL ECM functions which is not different between Pontiac and Chevy (since Pontiac hasn't made anything on their own since mid-1970's). And the C100 - the only differences would be for a few minor things like extra pinouts for the wires to the pop-up headlights maybe.
