Re: ID rear end?
Looks like regular ten bolt thirdgen rear without the torque arm in place. If you try to drive it like that is will be noisy as the rear yoke will find the floorboard.

Re: ID rear end?
Agreed. Just yerbasic car that somebody has been working on, with the torque arm taken off and not put back on.
Can't be driven like that.
I'm assuming, sold as "non-running"?
Doesn't look "custom-built" to me. More like, "custom not-fully-assembled yet".

Re: ID rear end?
It's a Chevy 12 bolt that has been modified to fit the 3rd gen Camaro. It probably has the lower controll arms welded solid to act like ladder bars. More pictures of the suspension would be very helpfull.

Re: ID rear end?
I am pretty sure you can see the torque arm mount on the left side and the nose is pointing upward just like when you take the torque arm off. The pics could be a lot if you want a positive ID.

Re: ID rear end?
That's not a 10 bolt. Look at the bottom 2 bolts on the diff cover in the last picture. There's 2 bolts straight across the bottom. No 10 bolt has that configuration. I'm pretty sure it's not a 9 bolt or a Dana 44. The bolt pattern looks like a 12 bolt and in that last picture, you can easily see a torque arm mount on the side of the diff.
Based on those pictures, looks like it's got an aftermarket, bolt in 12 bolt without the required torque arm attached. It will need a torque arm.

Re: ID rear end?
Not a 9 bolt cause it has a fill plug in the side. It would also plainly say borg warner under the pinion if it was. It appears to be smooth under the pinion where the raised print would be.

Re: ID rear end?
Sold as a project with broken tranny... I have saved my old torque arm so that not a problem........
Just curios about the rear since I need a strong one for my current car 415cui+procharger F1, buying a new rear will cost me about 1000$ less than this car.....
But need to be sure about the rear, and dont want to drive just to look, will se If I can get more pictures...

Re: ID rear end?
Have been using google some
Look alot like a mark williams 12bolt, if you look at the torque arm mount and the house moulding.......
Some other thing I have to consider....looks like it has drum brakes
- how much work/cost would it to change to discs?
- What gears? price on a gear change?
- What yoke has it?

Re: ID rear end?
Bolt pattern on the cover is wrong. It's not a Dana 44 or Dana 60

Re: ID rear end?
Detroit True Trac, made by Eaton, is the posi (carrier) that's in the diff. The diff itself still looks like a 12 bolt.

Re: ID rear end?
It seems to be a 12 bolt, as for the innards, only way to really know would be to pop the cover.
