I'm hoping someone can help me to ID a T-56 I have bought. It is a Borg-Warner unit T-56. The numbers off the green metal tag are as follows:

Top line 12550647 G3062
Bottom Line 1386-009 H 64094

Also it says on the outside of the trans use Dextron III ATF

The 1386-009 is a 1994-1995 2.66 / 0.50 box.

Do you know of a good source where I can find additional information on this trans? I need things like a boot cover, a shifter, back up lock out solenoid, Hydraulic Slave Cylinder, ect.

Boot cover is a dealer or eBay item. Most any from 83-92 (round shifter opening) or 93-02 (slotted shifter opening) will work but there are aftermarket ones from Mr. Gasket in various sizes to consider too.

Shifter is 93-02 F-body from $20 eBay stock to $200+ aftermarket.

The backup solenoid parts, I'd shop for at The Gear Box.

The master /slave hydraulics for a 93-97 F-body can be purchased from thousands of different online and retail auto parts places. The spacer which holds the slave away from the bellhousing is avail. on eBay if you can't find it dealer / gearbox.

Also, if you haven't posted on a few f-body forums' classified sections, you should.

The cheapest place to get a new gm reverse lockout solenoid is Tick Performance. $100.

I've never seen Tick selling anything as the cheapest source. thegearbox.org is the best source for low cost tremec parts.

You should fill out your Profile. You never know when some fool might live close to you and have a dozen used lockouts sitting in a box in their shop...

While I agree with they are not generally cheap. I looked all over the place and I challenge you to find a new GM solenoid for less than $100. I bought a few parts from AutoGear but they did not have the solenoid and claimed it was not a Tremec part, rather a GM part. So I doubt you will find it at the usual Tremec parts houses. Anyway I think the site you are referring to is http://www.thegearbox.org ?

Agreed, for some reason people are always looking to get rid of these things. If used is good enough for you, you should be able to get one for nothing.

Yup.. I know for a fact that the lockout is one part that's the same on all T56s (viper, GM, ford) and even carried through to the new tr6060, so it's definitely a tremec part.

1386-640-008 for just the solenoid, 1386-640-002 for the assembly.
(New numbers for the TR6060 probably replace these.. TUSW6588 and TUSW7406 respectively)

True I've never tried buying one, never needed to.. Thanks for the correction on thegearbox.org. I knew it's not .com and brain farted on that one.

Autogear is funny sometimes.. Extremely helpful sometimes, not so much other times.

Why would someone waste time finding the best price on a new rev. lockout when they have used ones?

The "GM part" / "Tremec part" is dynamic, changing over the years depending on contracts.

Why do some people buy new cars when they have used ones? Some people like new stuff. I have a lot of money in building my T56 just the way I wanted it. For me the few extra dollars is worth having new vs taking a chance on used. Obviously everyone is different.

Also, I have no doubt 85MikeTPI's part numbers are correct. But I found almost nothing when googling those numbers (except for the Tick website). I found a lot more info when googling the GM numbers. YMMV.
