Help with T5 switch
I recently rebuilt my 305 engine and switched from an automatic to a T5 manual in my 1987 IROC. I have not started the engine yet, but have a few questions about my wiring.
What is the Clutch Start Switch and where do I find the wires if needed?
What does the Canister Purge Valve do, and do I need it?
Does my car have a Power Steering Switch, and where would it be located if I am suppose to have one?
What is the Park Neutral Switch and where is it located? I was told that it is not to be connected for the T5?
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Help with T5 switch
look behind the drivers kick panel for the neutral safety switch wiring, for that all you need is the little plunger type switch that attaches to the clutch brake pedal bracket.
The powersteering switch is attached to the power steering line.
For the wiring harness that attaches to the old auto shifter just leave it unplugged and tuck it under the console (well you might need to use the reverse light wires of it for the trans

Re: Help with T5 switch
We found the neutral safety wiring, and the back-up light wiring. If someone replaced the hoses on the power steering could they have eliminated the switch, because I don't see any switch in the lines. Where should I be looking for the power steering switch?

they could have eliminated the switch, why I dont know, the switch should be on the pressure hose

Re: Help with T5 switch
The '165 ECM tuned port cars didn't use the power steering pressure switch. My 89 was originally a TBI (L03) powered car, which uses the P.S. switch. When I converted it with the 89 TPI harness, there's no plug for that switch. Not sure if the V6 cars use the switch, but I do know the V8 tuned ports don't have it. In fact, I replaced my original power steering pressure hose with the TPI hose just so I could get rid of the unsightly switch. The TPI hose doesn't have a port to screw the switch into.
