I have a mechanical valvebody 4L60 in my 86. Tranny guy put in all the goodies, upgraded sun shell, .50 boost valve, trans go shift kit etc. He had put in a corvette governor and I installed the tranny into my car. After driving it awhile, I noticed that it would not shift into 4th gear. I pulled the car over and checked the fluid and it was running a little low (leaking tranny lines). I added fluid and the car started taking off in 2nd gear and intermitantly 4th gear would work off and on. I parked the car for a couple years and started it every now and then.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, I got tired of it sitting there. I drove it and sure enough, in automatic mode, the car takes off in 2nd gear. If shifted manually, it goes through each gear but still no 4th. Reverse works fine. To get it to shift from 2nd to 3rd, you really had to gun it and get it moving.

I took the car to my mechanic, and had him replace the transmission lines, replaced the corvette governor with a new stock governor. He added some magic special additive that he swears by and the 1st gear started working again.

The thing about the transmission is that 3rd gear still works. I am starting to think there is something wrong with the throttle valve, 4th gear servo or accumulator piston but I really have no idea how this trans works.

Any ideas?
