Hurst Shifter pops out of 1st

Hurst Shifter pops out of 1st
Hey All.
Just installed a Hurst shiftier.
HOLY CRAP AWESOME.
But the awesomeness asside, the sloppy stock shifter I had didn't pop out of 1st gear like this one does. its not all the time, but its enough to make me not want to take my hand off of the shifter from a stop.
Thoughts as to how to fix?

Assuming adjustable stops? Check your 1,3,5 stop and possibly back it off a little. A shifter swap should not affect a trans popping out of gear.

yea i figured it was T5. 'IF' it has adjustable stops they will be on the front and back of the shifter. To adjust them just back the bolt off a good amount...put the car in 1st or 3rd and then tighten the bolt in until it just starts to touch the shifter rod. Then back it off a little bit and lock it down. Do the same for the 2,4,R stop. Thats at the rear of the shifter. This is of course assuming you have adjustable stops. If not i dont kno what to tell ya other than a shifter will not affect your trans popping out of gear.

I installed the Hurst Short Shifter last year, love it!
The instructions indicated to back out the stops (see picture) on the front and back of the shifter, then put the shifter into 3rd and push on the shifter and tighten in the stop bolt so it just touches, then back out one turn, snug up the lock nut. Put into 4th and repeat the procedure.
Of course this is under the assumption you have the stops, as there are 2 models of shifter available (with and without the stops). Some question if the stops are even required as there are built in stops in the T5.

Yeah... the bolts were no where close from touching... put it back together and same problem. WTF

Well just for kicks....put the stock shifter back in and drive it again. I just cant see how a shifter swap would cause it to magically pop out of gear.

Did you run with any problems when you install your hurst shiter... I install mine and for somereason i having the problems with first gear it pops back... i even remove the stops bolts and still same problem...

the guy I got the shifter from (a company that sells on ebay and i'm sure other palces) is sending me a plate to bolt onto it. we will see, and I shall post results.

Okay, here we go.
The seller sent me a thin metal plate to go inbetween the bottom plate and the housing. It was litteraly like 1/16th of an inch thick. once that plate was put in, all was better. I can now depend on the shifter!
