Monster Tranny Install 700r4
Hey guys...need your expertise once again. I have a 90 Camaro IROC-Z with a 350 and 700r4 tranny. I just bought a $1600 700r4 tranny from Monster transmission. I have installed other rebuilt trannys in my Camaro but nothing this expensive. I know Monster Tranmissions has a very good reputation for putting some great tranny's out there. As much money as I put in this new 700r4, I don't want to take any chances. If you guys have any tips or tricks to installing this tranny straight from Monster Transmission, I would be greatly appreciative. Like I said I have installed several tranny's in this Camaro but nothing this expensive of a tranny. My thanks in advance. I'm also installing a new trans cooler for piece of mind that the fluid is actually getting cooled. I've been though about 5 tranny's with this Camaro...I would like to make this the last. As always I welcome all replies and guidance. Thanks guys.

I have read mixed reviews about Monster; no 1st hand experience so I take internet forum reviews with a grain of salt. I do recall one post that mentioned some Monster proprietary ATF (read: expensive) is required in order to not void their warranty.
Maybe a call to them might be in order. Ask them what they recommend.

I was concerned about that also and I did ask them the questions....they told me to use a DEX/MERC III...any brand will do. Does that make sense to you guys...it does me but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks guys

Because Dexron III is no longer spec'ed by GM and isn't licensing blenders and re-blenders that produce it, I would stick to a name brand (Valvoline, Castrol, etc.) that specifies it can be used for vehicles that are spec'ed for Dexron III.
FWIW, Dexron VI is the only GM licensed ATF and it is backward compatible with Dexron III.
