Had car almost a year now...

Well taking a picture for another post of an EGR Vlave reminded me of a year ago when I bought my car on August 3rd 0f 2001

Just a recap of the problems she had on that day:

- Blown EGR Valve (Had shop replace it, didn't know much about cars then)
- Mix-matched set of plugs and wires ( Still there after shop did tune-up ? )
- Half remained Alarm system
- Bad battery
- Leaky Exhuast Manifold
- Overflow tank only hanging on with bottom screw ???
- Busted Air Box
- Broken Fan Shroud
- No underhood labels expect for fan warning and belt routing
- No vacuum pressure (ran a long time without that )
- Most of the Coolant Hoses decided to go in a few weeks ???
- Clogged "Original" Fuel Filter
- "Origianl" O2 Sensor
- Catalytic Converter barely hanging on (Had Minekee extend Y-pipe and weld to BAD cat )
- Catalytic converter had loose brick and rattled every where
- Missing Catalytic Conveter Exhuast Hanger
- Both Mirrors sratched reaaly bad
- Hood Support Cylinders blown out
- Hood Latch malfunctioned
- One white and one orange turn signal bulbs up front ???? Went bad at same time ???
- Bad bulb in driv side signal marker
- All weatherstripping bad ( only replaced hatch so far, need to do the rest)
- Tail-lights busted up
- Hatch mis-alighned
- 3rd Brake Light wiring was furbar
- Hatch Pulldown was wired incorrectly
- Hatch Release would open while in Drive ????
- Carpet was faded into six colors, had rust around seats, worn flat, and stains everywhere
- Headliner in five peices
- Missing overhead panels
- Seat belts wouldn't retract
- Rear Defrost has never worked
- Rear Carpet buckled
- Rear Compartment Keyhole broken
- Missing most of all rear screw in white things ( those things break easy )
- Mix-matched set of 6x9 speakers
- Wiring to 6x9s was with three seperate wires that used to be plugs of houshold appliences
- Old Houshold extension cord running through dash
- Dash Pad had two y-cracks and a chipped corner
- Arm rests material peeling off and missing both center screws on each side ???
- Rotted Away Door weatherstripping
- Upper Door Molding cracked on both sides
- Driv side Door trim cracked in half
- Missing Seat Belt retractors
- Most of the torx screws were missing
- Radio wired into dimmer switch ( yeah that one got me too ) and still didn't play tapes
- No ciggereette tray or cover
- Center console beaten up badly
- Console pad cracked and peeling
- Rear part of console stained white

And all of that was just what she had that DAY and that what i can remember!!!!! So just to give you an idea where I have come in the last year...

i got my camaro almost a year ago to, it was near the end of august, i didn't have as many interior problems as you but you should have seen the exterior when i bought it, one rear quarter-panel was rusted out halfway up to hatch, the door skins were flapping off, piece in the back which the hatch rested on was totally rusted out,, oh well, when i bought the car for $900 Canadian like 500+US, i got a mess of spare parts, a brand new quarter panel, two doors, another hatch, the front fenders on it were basically new, i got that back piece that was gone, a mess of interior plastic pieces, the pull back shade, sunroof, radiator, wiper motor, starter, hood latch itself, form the car. and probably some more i am forgetting...

and after bit less than i year i finally got it all put on the car,

i saw the pics of before you painted, so i could imagine what she looked like when you bought it.

Mine was repainted right before i got it, so far i can tell its got the original fenders, quarters, hatch and doors, and rust is starting around the doors and what looks like someone took a beebee gun upclose to the pass quarter has rusted. One of my projects to get to before it gets full blown all over the palce

I have had a list of stuff that has hapened since, but this car has been a great project so far and now that you see all the work i have put into her, you'll see that i have gotten upclose and personal with it and can't let it go so might as well go all out

I like your car, it looks great

I will have had mine for 3 years when August 25. I've came a very long way too. I've spent over 100 hours in adding gfx, sanding and polishing my IROC tail lights, making the rockerpanel emblems that say CAMARO, adding the 3 piece spioiler with the brake light, sanding, preping, painting, bondoing, then repriming, and then finally painting the car,and then putting on new weather stripping all around, and finally polishing a set of 87 Z28 rims. Man thats alot of stuff that I did to my car, and thats what I've done to the body. I got a huge list of everything I've done to my int also.

Make templates out of cardboard. You'll need to go to a junk yard or use a friends car, take off their gfx's and Use the body lines to get similar locations to where you would put them on a Z,RS,or IROC and then you can punch(or use a pen...ect)the holes onto your template. Then you can put the template in the same place on your car and drill the holes through the template into the proper location on your car. I made a crappy pic to illustrate what I'm saying.

Brown ???????????????? I don't think so, are my pics that bad that the black shows up as brown??? I wouldn't have swapped to brown, no come on!!! Its black

Go to my webshots link, page "Interior 2" those pics were down in my borther in laws expensive digital camara, you'll see black (well in person all the black matches perfectly, except the camaras want to change all the colors to different shades ??? )

Defantly get gfx all the way around. 82-84 uses basicly the same bolt locations, just find a 82-4 Z and make the templates and have fun doing it. I need to make a tech article and take some real pics next time I go to the junkyard.
