Gas milage went to **** and they're arching all over... they're regular 7MM ones..
Should I get standard 8mm ones, heli-coil ones? Should I get custom fit or should I cut them myself? Are they are to make a custom set?
I think Accel makes a heli-coil set custom for something like 66 bucks... sound good? These wires are going to choke my car soon! I've gone 5 days with 1 tank of gas... most of it was high-way 1 hour up to NJIT!

The only advantage to cutting a set yourself is that you can run the wires any way you want. Look at how I ran my wires, in this picture of how my coil's mounted. Technically this kind of set is called a "universal" set... universal as in, to the company, it fits every kind of car. What a company calls a custom set means that the company themselves will custom-cut it to the car. For example, here's some Accel custom sets for the '85 Camaro youv'e got. (And, I guess, all our f-bodies, hehe). Hey, wasn't there a chick that wanted to know Accel plug wire part #s? I think I just posted about this... oh well. Prices/part #s are from http://www.summitracing.com , to order from somewhere else, remove the "ACC-" from the part #...
You can get the Super Stock wires from http://www.naparts.com for $20.99 - but they've got a discrepancy, according to the Accel catalog. The Accel catalog shows #4078 for 85-89 2.8, and #4079 for 90-92 3.1. (I wonder what the difference is!) But Northern Auto shows them reversed, 4079 for 85-89 and 4078 for 90-92. I might have an old copy of the Accel catalog, get a new PDF from http://www.mrgasket.com , but I think I'd trust the Accel catalog over naparts.com's.
You could probably call for a price on Accel's 8878, too.
There's other sets, too, like Taylor, or Moroso, or etc... they probably have online catalogs, too.

I think I'll stick with Accel, just because... perhaps I can pick something else up from summit while I'm ordering. Hmm...
The only problem I have with spark plug wire wiring... is that coming off the cap, no matter what, two wires need to be crossed... In order to keep them from crossing, you need to have them like I do, but in that case, they touch the firewall and accumulator and other metal parts... and cause them to ground out over time and kill them... I'm getting damn near $400 out of the blue soon, so I have some spending money... I don't really wanna spent it on the motor (except to keep it running (hence the wires))... I'm going to put some of it away for the V8 I'm buying within the next year and a half or so (Yes, that means my headers will be for sale once the new motor is in... I want to have them on though, so they will also be sold with the y-pipe I will have custom made for it... this is the only post I'll make mention of this, but my christmas present to this V6 will be those headers), and some of it is going to new brakes... (fronts are cracked and my rears don't work...)

I havn't been putting too much thoght into what I've been typing lately, hence all the ****ing mistakes in the original post... Let me reiterate...
Is it hard to make a univeral set? Like, is it something I could screw up? (not something a college kid like me wants to do!) Or should I just buy a custom set? Should I get regular 8MM wires? or invest in bigger 8.8's? Standard core or heli-core? Will I feel the difference... If I can get away with it, I'd like to go cheap performance... I'm in college and need the money elsewhere... (V8 swap next summer, or a TA)... but I'd despiratly like to lower my 17.2 ET... this motor WILL bring me into the mid 16's before I ditch it...
If you're gong toswap out te motor, don't bother w/an expensive set of wires. Get the mid-grade lifetime @ AZ or what not, around $20.
You said you have the 7mm wires, are those the stock ones? I still have the cap & wires from the 2.8, & they are the Packard Electronic 8mm wires. just wondering.
I'm in college, haven't screwed up a wire set yet. You'd have to be a complete idiot to mess it up. Hardest part is cutting the wires to the length you want. Oh and Heli-Core is MSD's technology, you said you wanted Accel, they'll have their own technology.

I put a set of accell wires on mine, only cost me 30 bux. Had to cut to fit, and have 2 wires left over It comes with a criper tool. All you really need is a hammer, and vice would help, but I made a few on the ground. (to lazy to walk to vise). I had the 30 bux autozone ones on for 2 months, and the end came out of one, so I took them pos's back and got my es poly tranny mount.

Tom, doesn't matter what they are, as long as they don't suck as bad as the ones i have now, and will work with my blaster coil well... I've always thought I had spark issues, but recently I can visibly see and feel that it's gotten real bad... I don't think stock 7MM ones are going to get the full effect of that coil to the plugs, which is why i'm looking for a performance set...
and even if I'm going to swap the motor, I'll buy a universal set for a V8... use 6 now, and cut teh rest of it to length when i get those two more cylinders... plug wires are supposed to last for some amount of time, I'm sure a performance set that I buy now will still be good a year down the road when the SC gets a new motor... besides, I'm bound to burn a wire or two on the headers anyway... I'd rather do it on an oldset than a new set...
Sounds good! Good idea too about the v8 set... I was buying the MSD wirse for 3 years before I figured out I could buy a v8 set and get two extra plug wires for $10 (MSD prices)! So far I've got one v8 set to my credit.. just 2 plug wires. Too bad I didn't think of it before, I could've had a free v6 set by now.
