Not really turdgen, but PLEASE HELP!!!
OK, here's the story. In my auto tech class we are working on a 98(?) chevy dohc v6 and nobody can figure out how to loosen the belt tensionor(sp). The tensionor has a torx bolt and a square block on it. Anybody have any suggestions?
PS: already talked to teacher about it, he can't figure it out either.

Engine: LH0 3.1L
It might have a square hole in it that you could fit a breaker bar into.
Or it might have a square edge on the end of it that you could use an open ended wrench on.
Or you might be able to wedge a prybar down there and move it.
BTW, are you talking about the 3.4L DOHC engine? I coulda swore they stopped making that engine before 1998......

I think the Azteks have the 3.4 motor, or at lest the 4wd models. Ask teacher to get a service manual

If the tensioner doesent move then its somewhere else. Usually if it is how you describe there will be a 10mm bolt head on the very bottem of that setup to adjust it, if you unscrew the Torx head it should come off completly. Other then seeing it up close.......

I don't know what the engine is other than dohc v6 that my teacher says is a 98.
Teh (I know it's misspelled) teacher is a deaf old fart that is afraid of anything made after 1980.
Can't drop the class, it's 4 credits and I'm a sophomore in high school.
Can't go all over town because my mom works late and I don't have my license.
I love the turdgens, that's why I'm trying to buy one right now, my mom went to the bank to check it out today
