check out my post on how much I've spent.
Subtract : most of it is routine maint. stuff that wasn't kept up.
And all the extra "go fast" goodies I've opted for.
the end result will be a more likeable $$ amount. Also remeber, I've been slowly doing my project for over a year now. slowly

So you lost your transmission and your Engine both at the same time.

if u don't have emessions to worry about, pull that lil' 2.8L and the 700r4, find a carbed v8, buy a beter carb and manifold, hook up a set of headers, see if u can deck the heads, throw that bad boy in, and you could even use a v8 700r4, or heck, throw in an ole' 4 speed stick or even a t56 :-d and have fun.

thats pretty much the plan.. love to have a 6-speed, but i really want a stick shift for it... i can get a 305 out of a berlinetta with a 700r4 but the motor has no carb on it and probably needs a rebuild..

personal opinion, if you're going to be swapping a berlinetta motor into your camaro, you really don't want that lil' carb on there anyway. Nor any of the other stock components either, you should definately consider doing everything aftermarket. Hope the golf works out for hte daily driver, that's what everyone needs ( a reliable car) then you cna have some fun with your f-body. If money doesn't allow the six speed at this time, take the auto/305 setup , or auto 350 (check bone yards, 350's are everywhere!!! and cheap)put the v8 in your garage, build the engine to your specs, can do the same with the transmission, if you'd rather, you can probalby have a tranny shop build it (out of the car) for about 500 bux, could include larger boost valve and a vette servo, and the shifts will be hard enough to make people think you have a manual. Just make sure you do things the way you want to, atelast in the long run. Because the last thing you want to do is be like me, drop 3 grand into a car and then be upset that you didn't swap to the v8 when you had the chance.

i can get a 305/LG4 + 700r4 for it for $200(cad) thats 125US. it needs a carb and possibly a manifold, tranny is said to be good. sound like agood deal and how much would a card and manifold set me back?
Not truly butcher, but a V-8 is an alternative. Yes the 3.4 Swap Boogie is an viable option.
ME?
Search your local GM dealers & start bargining for a 3.4 long block.
Your car is to nice to let go!
Yes, of course a V-6 60* fits a V-6, 60* tranny.
You already started good effort on your car, don't let it go to easy but find be$t alternative for your$elf.

Joe, how would a snapped connecting rod cause the trans to break?

I read that he lost his transmission in a previous post, and now his engine was gone. I was just saying that having them both go in such a short period of time must suck.
So his tranny has nothing to do with the snapped connection rod.
Just to clear that up.
