Nope, unfortunately, you're going crazy. The emissions legal badge refers to the other cams around that one. I assume it's in a list with v8 cams? The Crane cam isn't emissions legal, it doesn't have an EO (executive order) number. That's why I've held off on a cam for so long; in NJ, we have a strict emissions test, done on a dyno. Supposedly though (and I'll find this out when I rebuild the 2.8), if a cam for a v6 has similar characteristics (lobe sep, max lift, etc) to that of an emissions legal V8 cam, then the V6 one will also be emissions legal. A lot of red tape and $$ is associated with getting an EO number, so the cam might pass emissions, but Crane didn't want to go through all the headaches for a handful of v6 owners.

In my summit magazine , it says its emissions legal .....BUT ....its right along with all the other camshafts under it ....That's mis-leading isn't it Tom ! It's a good thing I did not order one like I wanted to awhile back . I would have been raising some hell with Summit when my car did not pass the sniffer !!!! All this time I have been thinking it was emissions legal !

yea...for a moment i was like wow...its emissions legal...this will be cool...i guess i wasn't going crazy...oh well...i'm sure sooner or later it will happen...here in RI there is the possibility of them changing emissions laws where vehicles 85 and earlier won't have to pass emissions...that would be a godsend over here...however i do have a buddy who is certified to do state inspections...maybe he can hook up one of them new hondas on the dyno for the sniff sniff test...we'll see...i mean...that cam will complete my future 3.4 project with some of the other goodies i will purchase...we'll have to just wait and see...thanks for clearing that up for me guyz...i know i'm a little crazy...but not stupid or antyhing...whooh...i thought there was something wrong with me...lata...

I actually went and looked the EO number up at CARB's website (california air resources board), and it listed all the v8 cams in that section, but didn't mention the v6 cams. But supposedly since the cam has close to the same profile as the v8 cams, and the v8 cams are smog legal, then that means the v6 cams will probably pass the smog test. Key word is "probably", but at least it's somewhat of an answer.

It would also depend on how close your particular car is to failing the smog test. If your car passes emissions with really low CO and HC counts (like mine does ), the cam probably wouldn't make you fail. However, if your car barely passes as is, it would be pretty safe to assume that the newer, more aggressive cam would push you into the 'fail' category. And just for the sake of venting, it really pisses me off that a few zealots on the west coast (read: CARB) is ruining all our motoring fun. I'm all for clean cars, but stupid red-tape bureaucracies like CARB are going about things the wrong way. At least the emissions shop where I live doesn't care what's done to your car, as long as it passes. The only reason the guy popped my hood was to put the inductive pickup on my motor so he could monitor engine speed. In theory, you could have a totally built motor with NO emissions equipment, and as long as emissions were at acceptable levels, here's your sticker, off you go!

my car passes with almost nothing on those readings...my car is really clean...i forget what the limit is on my car...but the readings is so low...so maybe it won't make much difference...but however...when i put the 3.4 in i won't know how well it passes emissions until i get to it...so we'll see until then...thanx for the responses guyz...

Did you pass emissions tests with that blue racer cam? Your picture says you're in New York... what kind of emissions test is up there?

jeez, with that many mods to your engine, i'd be suprised if you passed really easily.
it seems like you've totally re done your engine to be a screamer, and i wouldnt think thats emissions-testing friendly, but my hats off to you for pulling it off!

I have the blue racer in my car aswell, it's a great cam. I kind of doubt you will pass strict emissions with it tho. I'm lucky that I don't have to pass ANY emissions where I live... the car's running with no cat, and a disabled smog pump to boot. You can just smell the raw gas, kinda like an old muscle car when you let off the gas at a stop after giving it.
