Ok everybody . . .question for you all.... I currently have an 87 LT with the bastard child of engines yeah you guessed right my 2.8 V6 that I love. She has 187,600 miles on her and I will not get rid of her. Here is where the problem comes is. . . At my college I need a truck with four wheel drive. . . I go to college out by Lake Erie and well that is snow country no doubt. . . So my question I pose to all of you is any idea where I might be able to find somebody able to turn my camaro into a four wheel drive lifted monster that I could possibly fit a set of 33 inch mudders on?? Maybe you should buy a beater truck instead of spending a ton of money to ruin your camaro.

If I could afford to have two cars while in college I would but the truck also has to be reliable too. . . I live in new jersey and travel 9 hours to college and have to do the trip usually 5 or 6 times throughout the year. . . . so a beater truck really won't do the trick. .

you're going to have to buy a beater truck anyway.. where the heck do you think you're going to get the parts for this kinda deal? You'd need a full frame, welded up, capable of mounting the 60* V6, plus transmission, plus transfer case, plus full suspension, rear axle, front axle, driveshaft, custom steering linkage, throttle linkage, brake lines.. this isn't a "small" project you're looking at. You'll end up buying a full, damn near running 4x4 S-10 pickup, ripping both it and your camaro apart, spending thousands in custom fabrication, and end up with a vehicle worth 1/2 of what the camaro was worth to begin with... honestly.. sell the camaro, buy a truck. Keep the camaro, buy a truck. Do something, but just buy a freakin truck.

To make it a full true 4x4, it will be cheaper to find a mid 90's s10 4x4. get same or better mpg.

Now if you just need it lifted a tad to put some all season tires, install v8 coil springs up front, and air shocks in the back.

LOL; yeah, to do this, you'd de-weld the camaro "body" from it's subframes. You'd get a full frame'd truck, and remove the body. Then you'd weld attachment points to what's left of the camaro body, to attach the camaro body to the body mounts of the truck's frame. You'd pretty much need to own a junkyard, and have plenty of free time on your hands! I couldn't even imagine all the trouble it'd take to fabricate the steering linkage... ouch.

That jacked up Camaro is exactly what Chev needs to do when they bring back the Camaro as a 5th gen. Listen quingofpenguins, you don't need a truck. I got 4 oversized Michelen Arctic Alpins (215 75 R 15) on plain Chev rims, and I throw a hundred pounds or two in the trunk and it works like a dream in the snow. Although the 215 75 R 15s are usually cheaper than the 215 65 R 15s in terms of snow tires, I would say go with the smaller ones and get some chains too, just in case you run into trouble. The larger tires just fit, so I don't think you could add chains to them. But they do give a little extra lift and they are narrower which is what you want in the snow. And if you have a 5 speed, you can take off in second (or at least you should be able to) and that will help you grip. It's all about knowing how to drive in the snow. Gear up early and gear down early. Gear down into first if you need to.

I've seen a 4wd 1st gen camaro. it was......interesting. I've also sen a 4wd Mach 1. gawd that was fugly. find a truck w/beat up body, but working drivetrain & same wheel base as the camaro. Body swap w/all the fixins.
