91 v6 firebird or 87-89 formula with bad paint??
well..i dunno what to do...this is my 91 firebird https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=308789
(dont worry those exhaust tips are gone!)
its real nice..its got 136,000 on the clock and the only problem is a tapping every so often from a valve that needs to be adjusted...
i found a 89 formula up the street...PERFECT leather interior...the 350 (its anyware from a 87-89. gotta power buldge hood with 5.7 on it) wide tires...only problem? bad paint..starting 2 fade on the roof. basically no clear coat...if i get it..i may either trade with some money along (if it was needed) or have both but prolly eventually get rid of the v6 cuz i cant have 2 (dunno why..plus insurence wont be fun) ive got sentimental value on that firebird...i just got new tires, did a full tune up and did the heater core myself...i love that thing..but...ive been craving something more lately. but u cant beat the 3.1s. great engines... what do u all think?

First check the car out good. Look for rust in places you know it forms: floors, wheel wells, etc. If it is solid awesome. Then check the milage on the car and double check to make sure its the 5.7 and not a 5.0. Check the vin or the heads on the motor. I would look at the vin first though. Easier. See how it drives and shifts. Don't be scared to get on it, thats how you can tell how that tranny feels. If both engine and tranny are fine then reason with him about the price, point out the negatives. Check for oil leaks too. If all checks out and you can afford it, go for it! Much more power and you can finally achieve that v-8 tone (exhuast) Don't get me wronge here, the v-6 is nice and reabile, but the formula will be worth more and you can get your money back easier. Also much faster I'm currently selling my V-6 because i can't afford her so I drive my saturn. I will hopefully get a Formula or a GTA too. I say go for it if it checks out. Let us know

thanx for the things to look for! i looked at it this morning...pretty nice..no rust at all..no leaks....also looks like its got 4th gen camaro leather seats..plastic inside has been spray painted black to match (kinda retarded if u ask me) looks like its fully loaded...just the top half of the paint is bad, but for the most part its pretty glossy looking. im gonna get 2 gether with the guy at 12 about the thing...ill let u all know what happens...ps...i really doubt im gonna get rid of my 91.

Anytime. Sounds like a sweet deal. If the plastic bothers ya you can always change it later down the road. If you can't afford to keep the 91 on the road, just park her for now and when you get money you can have both on the road. Two is better then one

Thats awesome to here. Make sure its the 5.7. I was lied to once when I went to look at a formula. Shoulded him the carfax then he changed his story and said it was a 5.0 then he switched it. Found the casting number and it was the 5.0. Think of it as a upgrade. I sold my firebird and boy do I miss her already

Yeah, people like lying and saying its a 5.7 when selling. But hey they're both fine engines - and people like downplaying the 5.0 as if it was astronomically inferior to the 350.
Hey, I'd say keep whatever car is in better shape. But 66,000 miles are some low miles man.
Get a mechanic to check it out if you want and look for rust yourself. And if you test drive it, try driving it "alittle" hard and see how it performs (hesitation, bucking, etc) and if it overheats. Good luck.

I test drove an 84 TA 305, my 92 sixer had more spunk in it. Had to turn it down. Good luck with your car man
