Odd trouble code...I'm lost

I have a carb'd 2.8 '84 Camaro w/ a trouble code "54". Now, I've done the search bit, and what I came up with doesn't fit. Code 54 says: Low fuel pump voltage
OR: Fuel pump relay
OR: Quad Driver Module (QDM) output failure

Now being that this it a carb'd engine, with mechanical fuel pump, it cant be a fuel pump relay, or low fuel pump voltage, which leaves Quad Driver Module (QDM) output failure. So, WTF is the QDM????? It seems to run fine, as good as a carb'd 2.8 is going to run, LOL! What am I looking for here

I would try other sources for your answer
Wish I had not put my shop manuals into storage or else I'd search in my Helms manual for ya.
I'd also try clearing the "codes" and go driving for any changes in ECM readings.

Mixture Control Solenoid Problem. The MC driver circuit has a Open, short, or ground somewhere in it.

2_point_8boy is the winner

Either the MC solenoid is shot, or the controller for it is dead.

Great, thanks for the info! Now, what/where is the controller for this? The carb looks to be faily new, it's definently not the original. I'm currently missing the air cleaner assembly for this car, is the controller possibly the part in the side of the air cleaner housing that the two vacuum lines connect to?

The controller is part of the ECM. It's all computer controlled. My bet is that the MC Solenoid itself is dead. You can get a new one from the autoparts store and make sure that you get the special little ruler that you use to adjust it. It's maked in 1/32" so that you can adjust it right. If it's not adjusted right you'll run rich or lean all the time because there's not enough travel in it to switch between the 2 like it should.

When ordering these parts, make sure you have the carb numbers, too.
They are verticle on the body area.
And do the best to determine you do have the original proper carb now on car.
It may have been switched which accounts for the code and lack of drivability problkems.
