Dist question

Aight, I've been trying to find pictures so that I can figure out the answer myself, but I haven't had much luck with that...

So, I own a 1991 Camaro RS with a 3.1 MPFI. When I bought the car, the kid I bought it from was going to do an engine swap...so, he had the 3.1 all disconnected. I've pretty much figured out where everything goes, and I was trying to start it last night...but it doesn't have spark. My question is....are there suppose to be two plugs going into the distributor? Right now, it only has one plugged in, and I can't find the second anywhere....I'm fairly certain that there should be two, but as I said....it's just not there.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Dist question

Still no luck in finding it, I've been over that engine countless times. I've followed all the wires to see where they plug in to with no luck. I have the wire that plugs in closest to the engine, but I can't find the one that's closest to the firewall. Where should it be coming out from? Anyone have a picture of it?

There is a connection near the coil that goes to that one...

Re: Dist question

One set of two wires goes from the coil to the distributor plug in. It is a small say 12 in in length wire. Is very easly misplaced. Because it does not attach to the wiring harness. If you still cant find it give me your email and I will send some pics so you know what your looking for

Re: Dist question

Mkay. You beat me to the pictures...I just went and took some myself.

That would explain it then, I'm missing that wire. Looks like I'm gonna have to take a trip to the junkyard.

Thanks again...it's appreciated.

Re: Dist question

Went to the junkyard yesterday and got the parts I needed....she started right up and runs strong.

I'm surprised how easily it starts....

Re: Dist question

You will not only be surprised with the starting but how long it lasts. The 3.1 is a very reliable engine. I sold mine with 248,000 miles and it was still running strong.
