the search function seems to be dead. so i know that i need fiero valve covers... but i cant find any aluminum full rollers that are 10mm...

or are they the same as 7/16 studs... 3/8th? and how great a ratio can i go?

will i need new springs?

the only reason i ask this is my exhaust manifolds are leaking like bastards.. they have been for years and 100,000kms so my valves are probably burnt. a few heads are missing on the headers so im thinking ill have to pull the heads anyway. and with the low cost of these heads from the wreckers, ill just clean up and have someone drop them in for me. but without the search im screwed.

i use youtube for alot of research on how to do body work etc... its really great for that kind of thing.. but seems all the engine building are on hondas.

i have a haynes but im a watch and learn, read and sleep kinda guy.

so is there any videos of how to assemble heads around?

If you can find a Fiero with the original engine, try to get the heads too. They have larger valves than ALL other 2.8 engines and the little vane in the bottom is smaller. I have ported Fiero heads on my 3.1 project.

Real aluminum full roller rockers are $$$$ for the 60*V6s 10mm stud. I pulled the pressed in studs and tapped my heads for 3/8" screw in studs. I bought the SBC roller rockers, 3/8" screw in studs, and came out roughly $100.00 cheaper, with better parts.

You can get 1.6:1 roller tip rockers that will do great for regular street driving, idle-5,000 rpm or so, for ALOT less money. I am just running ALOT of lift with my combo and needed the full roller rockers.

I can tell you that the ONLY difference with the 2.8 rockers from a small block rocker that I have found is the 10mm stud vs 3/8. The poly locks are different for the SAE vs. Metric stud. I converted my engine to 3/8" screw in studs and used 1.6:1 small block rockers.

The springs that I am running came with the custom ground cam. I have a sneaky suspicion they are Comp 981s based on the specifications and the fact they are identical to my 981s for my TBI 350.

I have a pair of fiero valvecovers I could sell you- they just need the paint stripped. Pair the roller rockers with some beehive (LS1) springs and you could wrap it up to ~6500rpm if you wanted to.

Part number is the same and all RWD FI 6/60's, and have 1.72/1.42 valves.

Carb motors have 1.6/1.? valves.

For the orginal question. I think its crane that sells stud converters, 10-1.50 threads on bottom, and 3/8 stud up top to install v8 rockers. Then make sure you get narrow body, non-self aligning rockers.

My mistake, the TBI 2.8 in my 87 S-truck had the 1.6/1.3 valves in it. Stock heads, I might add.

It shouldn't have, all EFI 660s had the large valve from the factory. The heads or engine must have been swapped at some point.

Crane made the 660 specific Gold Race rockers.

They use a custom stud, 10mm to go into the head, and 3/8" through the rocker fulcrum. They are also narrower than the SBC counterpart, since the rockers sit closer together on the 660 than a SBC.

You can get the studs from ARP, at least they used to have them, sorry I don't have a part number.

You can modify the SBC rockers for the narrower fit, the process was documented in a GM Power Manual from 1987, maybe other years as well.

Agree with six shooter. All documentation says that it should have the 1.72/1.42 heads. Either the motor or heads were swapped. And I think thats to late year wise to have "left overs" in the factory and tossed them on to keep production moving.... but possible.
